WINDSOR THEATRE REOPENS ON JUNE 5 WITH CELEBRATE IOWA FILM SERIES
Windsor Theatre in Hampton kicks off its reopening on June 5 with the “Celebrate Iowa Film Series.”
The best of Iowa-made indie movies come to the big screen on four 3-day weekends beginning June 5-7 with the award-winning movie Silo. Partially filmed in Mason City with the assistance of Sukup Manufacturing, Silo is the story of a rare accident that threatens to tear apart family and friends in a small American farm town.
On the weekend of June 12-14 movie goers can see the award-winning Saints Rest, filmed in Grinnell. A naturalistic modern-day musical set in small-town Iowa, it celebrates the authentic aesthetics of the rural Midwest.
Rise of the Sea Urchins, a whacky, fun-filled family comedy filmed in Forest City and Decorah, will show June 19-21. Rise of the Sea Urchins was produced by Marketplace Media Company of Rockford, Iowa, in collaboration with Waldorf University with 41 volunteer actors and more than 70 extras. It follows Ted Biddles, the insecure “new kid,” his off-balance coach Max Dungal and the unimpressive Sunnyille Sea Urchins in their quest for water polo glory.
“Get Your Shorts On!” is the theme of the final weekend. An array of short films will include awardwinning dramas, thrillers and comedies.
Tickets are $3.00 per show and available at the door. Discount tickets for all four shows are available at Center One in Hampton for $9.00.
Take-out popcorn will be available after the start of each weekend show.
Show times are 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights with a 1:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon matinee.
Take-out popcorn will also continue to be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Gold, silver and bronze series as well as weekend sponsorships are available.
