Synopsis
Set inside a family-owned café on Christmas Eve, The Lantern follows an exhausted restaurant staff trying to survive one increasingly chaotic holiday service. The café has a long-standing tradition of staying open and offering donation-only meals to anyone who needs somewhere to go for Christmas.
As a winter storm worsens, the restaurant fills with an unusual mix of regulars, travelers, and families all trying to make it through the holiday unscathed. Add a failing coffee machine, unreliable kitchen equipment, an absurd pancake order, persistent carolers, and a staff already at the end of its patience, and the evening quickly spirals into comic chaos.
Beneath the humor, The Lantern explores hospitality, tradition, loneliness, work, and the idea that sometimes Christmas begins simply by making room for someone else.
The play is designed for a broad audience, combining fast-moving comedy with heartfelt moments and an ensemble cast.
The Lantern will be performed at 7PM on December 11 and 12 and 1PM on December 13.
